Best by Petite Noir
Yannick Ilunga, who plays and produces music as Petite Noir, shares the second track Best from his debut album La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful due to be released in September on Domino Records.
The young artist, Brussels-born to a Congolese father and an Angolan mother, combines R’n’B, nod of new wave and electronic African beats to create the”noirwave”, his own music trade mark that well conveys the combination of multiple cultural factors which have influenced Yannick and have grown with him as he’s grown between Europe and Africa.
Petite’s sound palette widely ranges among styles and genres: saturated rhythm sound, African beats that blend synth sounds with live drumming, rarefied bass lines and layered vocals. Well grounded and structured, Yannick’s songs still ramain intimate, sensitive but intense as sounds the latest track Best that is now a video too. Directed by Travys Owen, and Rochelle Nembhard, the video challenges assumptions about Africa and provide a new creative direction that want to enphasize the richness and the diversity and African culture and people.
Petite Noir represent the bridge or, alternatively, the breaking point among rules and boundaires.
