EP: Pelicans We by Cosmo Sheldrake

Cosmo Sheldrake_Pelican We

2015 is bringing great new sounds since its beginning.
Now it’s time to catch up with a 2014 breakthrough, Cosmo Sheldrake that within this ongoing year has the intent to cement himself as one of the most exciting musicians around by releasing the debut EP, Pelicans We.

Cosmo Sheldrake is a 25 year-old multi-instrumentalist musician, composer and producer. He regularly performs on banjo, loop station, keyboards, double bass, drums, penny whistle, sousaphone, accordion and many more. He is an inspirational singer and improviser, and much of his work is concerned with play, nonsense and the sonorous environment. Cosmo depicts the sound of the daily world around with a child-like curiosity mixed up with the creativity of ancient traditional sounds.

His sold-out debut 7″ single through paradYse Records (Marika Hackman, Cold Specks) picked up support from the likes of  The Telegraph and The Guardian. And now, after one year since his last issue spent on stage across the world with sold out shows in Paris, Berlin and New York, he’s back by sharing a couple of new tracks, Tardigrade Song and Rich, which with the previous The Fly give voice to debut EP, Pelicans We.
Continuing his love of the nonsensical, Tardigrade Song see’s Sheldrake imagine himself as one of nature’s toughest species  (a tiny water dwelling animal no bigger than a pencil dot) living in the sea. Cosmo’s vibrant vocals soar as the track quickly descends into a maddeningly catchy slice of indietronica, reminiscent of Metronomy or  alt-J.
With Rich, Cosmo explores the collaboration with other artists. This case, featuring Anndreyah Vargas, Cosmo pushes the accent on indietronic tones creating a catchy beating song adorned by Anndreyah’ voice.

Cosmo’s world is available via Transgressive Records and on tour ( UK dates below for now).
Waiting for him in Milan for an Italian date too, listen to those two pearls.
