#RockYuorChristmas: URL Collection Xmas Edition
Perhaps not everyone knows that Elvis Presley is a very big fan of Christmas time. He was one of a handful of rockers that released a full Christmas album.
For the record, his first Christmas record, named Elvi’s Christmas Album, was released in the late 1957. It spent four weeks at number one on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, and was the first of two Christmas-themed albums Presley would record. The second is Elvis Sings the Wonderful World of Christmas, released in 1971. While most of the songs selected for Christmas Album were traditional Christmas fare, two new songs were produced for that specific album. One was “Santa Bring My Baby Back (to Me)” and the other was a blues-based rock and roll number, “Santa Claus Is Back in Town,” written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, same writer/producer for other big successes of The King Of Rock.
Other musicians tempted to follow the same path but never with the same prestige. That’s why Elvis is still The King.
Anyway, other fantastic artists gave to life incredible Christmas songs that are as good as the ones released for other themes, which are music pillars. It’s only a matter of celebration that makes the difference. Don’t you…?
Chuck Berry, Queen, Ramones, Luis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald are only a few names that gave their huge contribute to the cause.
Rock Your Christmas is the selection dedicated to those great Artists and to all of you who believe in music, in all its forms.
